This work was awarded the Prix Montyon in 1939 by the Académie Française and the Académie des Sciences. Elian-Judas Finbert (1899-1977) was a French-speaking animal writer. He took an interest in various animals, particularly camels, becoming a camel driver, and devoted a study to them in 1938. Recipient of numerous Académie française awards.
