Egypt or Syria, probably 16th century Tin-plated copper with chased decoration, truncated-conical body and arched opening adorned with an epigraphic band in "thuluth" interrupted by scrolls, entrelac and edged with braided frieze. Size: 13 x 38 cm Mamluk bowls in tin-plated copper are traditionally dated to the 15th century, and very often to the latter part of that century. This can be explained, at least in part, by the scarcity of precious metals in the Islamic world in the 15th century. Inscription: "al-maqarr al-'ali" - "La haute autorité" - "The high authority".
