Non-functional astrolabe, in partially tin-plated brass, comprising the mother, the spider (with incorrect projection), six spandrels engraved on one side only, the nail, the horse and the alidade. The inscriptions are engraved in Arabic in a hesitant Maghribi script. H. 30 cm By measuring the position and height of the stars, the astrolabe indicates the time and allows you to situate yourself in space. Inherited from the Greeks and perfected by the Arabs from the 8th century onwards, the astrolabe enjoyed great popularity, right up to the modern era, when the sciences took off once again. A modern imitation of a Maghrebian astrolabe.
