A carved turquoise personal seal of Muzaffar al-din shah Qajar (r. 1896-1907), dated 1896, year of his enthronement.
This precious seal corresponds to Mozaffar al-din shah's rise to power in 1896. Faced with a country in financial crisis, this monarch tried to reform the central treasury. However, the Qajar court's debts to the UK and Russia significantly undermined the monarch's efforts. Thus, this seal is a rare testimony to the monarchy's authority in diplomatic exchanges.
