This complete gem-set set, with lid and saucer, illustrates the taste for libation bowls popular in Mughal India. In his memoirs, the Mughal emperor Jahangir refers to a crystal bowl with an enameled dish and lid sent as a gift to Shah Abbas I of Iran in 1617.
