[TURKISH MANUSCRIPT]. Proverbes de Salomon, in Turkish, copied in French characters. [Paris, July 5, 1816]. - Manuscript in-4, 243 x 184. Green half suede, smooth spine (period binding). Interesting manuscript offering a Turkish translation of Solomon's Proverbs, or Book of Proverbs. It is written in Latin characters on the right half of the pages, with a few words in Turkish characters in the left margin. It comprises 96 pages, the first 25 of which are numbered from 1 to 25. The text contains virtually no erasures. It ends with this note in French: "Fini de copier le 5 juillet 1816 vend. à 8 h. du soir à Paris aux cholets." At the end, head to tail, we find another text entitled Capitulations de la France avec la sublime Porte, which is a copy of a treaty between France and the Ottoman Empire, written on 14 pages in Turkish characters, accompanied by a glossary giving the French translation of a large number of Turkish words. Some minor damage to spine, damaged edges. Ink drawings of faces and various operations on back covers, endpapers missing.
