Dark green morocco, vertical band of 19 gilt fillets surmounting five mosaic ivy leaves in light green calf, smooth spine decorated with a band of 15 gilt fillets and the title of the work in full in dark green box, dark green morocco framed inside, decorated with a double gilt fillet, green moiré silk lining and endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved, dark green morocco spine folder and overlapping bands, lined slipcase (E & A Maylander).
Very fine edition illustrated with 28 original etchings by André DUNOYER DE SEGONZAC (1884-1974), including one on the cover, 11 in the text and 16 full-page.
Limited edition of 108 copies, signed by the author and artist at the justification. One of 21 on Arches vellum including a complete suite of etchings on the same paper.
A very fine copy bound by Émile and André Maylander, with an autograph card from Pierre Brisson, on the letterhead of Le Figaro newspaper, and 3 autograph postcards from Dunoyer de Segonzac.
A copy for Professor Henri Mondor, to whom the enclosed autograph cards are certainly addressed. He was an acquaintance of the artist, who engraved his portrait.
Cracking to one hinge of the dust jacket, otherwise a very well preserved copy.
