Cajetan Roos or Gaetano Rosa (ROME 1690 - VIENNA 1770). Boar hunting. Oil on canvas. cm74x98. Cajetan Roos, together with his brother Jacob, known as Rosa da Napoli (1682 - news until 1730), followed in their father Philipp Peter's footsteps known as Rosa da Tivoli, within the pictorial vein devoted to pastoral subjects that also accumulated them with Domenico Brandi. However, Cajetan delved deeper into the theme of hunts, giving rise to numerous compositions of deer, boar, bull and bear hunts, all of them executed in a loose manner and with a palette brightened compared to his father's specimens. Our painting finds significant points of correspondence with the signed work exhibited in Vienna at Dorotheum on June 10, 1997.
