Gilt bronze case with figurative design. Work in a base, on it a water jug and bowl, flanked by two figures: Venus at the toilet on the left, winged Amorputto on the right, holding the jug and a laurel wreath. Base surrounded by laurel leaf profile. Dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, surrounded by a fruit festoon. Pierced and gilt hands. Glazed front. The movement is closed on the back by a door integrated into the group of figures, allowing the clock to be released. Lock plate striking mechanism for half and hour strike on bell.
Antoine Cronier, born January 13, 1732, was apprenticed to Nicolas Pierre Thuillier, Ouvrier in 1753 and became a master clockmaker in Paris in 1763. He died in 1806.
