Spätgotische Schnitzfigur einer Heiligen Lot n° 104

Height: 74 cm. Probably Bruges, around 1530. Standing figure with a slender body and youthful face, the head crowned, suggesting a Saint Catherine. The right hand holds a book, the left a martyr's palm (the upper part of which is missing). In contrapposto on a carved turf base. The cloak held together with clasps and agraffes. Bowl folds merging into pointed arch folds. The rounded foot tips indicate the period after 1500. Oak wood, former setting removed, wormholes on the reverse next to a rectangular cavity with edge joints, an indication of formerly covered relic inlays. (14008940) (11)
