ELIEZER AND REBECCA AT THE FOUNTAIN Oil on canvas. Doubled. 140 x 102 cm. In frame with foliage in relief. Depicting the Old Testament episode in which Abraham instructed his eldest servant Eliezer to find a wife for his son Isaac in the Old Country. A stone-grey baroque fountain with masquerons in soft tones on a pedestal, Rebecca on the pedestal dispensing water with a kettle. Further figures with camels and an implied landscape in the background. The coloration and physiognomy of the figures are reminiscent of Giorgio Vasari.
