Oil on wood. Parquetry.
76 x 105 cm.
In gilded frame with ornamental relief.
The theological virtues depicted here by means of allegorical figures are already thematized in 1 Corinthians: "For now faith, hope, love, these three remain; but the greatest of these is love." (1 Cor 13:13). Presented here by three female figures, the one on the left holding a Bible (faith), the one in the middle feeding a flock of children (love) and the one on the right offering an anchor (hope).
