FLOWER BASKET WITH BIRDS
Oil on wood. Parquetry.
49 x 64 cm.
In decorative gilded frame.
A broad woven basket with two handles standing on three visible small ball feet against a dark background on a lighter panel, containing a magnificent and colorful floral arrangement consisting of, among other things: Roses, tulips, ranunculus, carnations, lilies and jasmine, some of which are from different seasons. Between these are a few branches with berries, one of which with bright red cherries has probably fallen out of the basket. As an enlivening element, the painter has added two sparrows, one pecking at berries on the edge of the basket, the second sitting on the lower left edge of the panel. A colorful depiction of the basket filled with flowers, of which there are several versions by the aforementioned painter. (1401551) (18)
