FOUR PAINTINGS WITH DOGS IN LANDSCAPE

Verso each with label with handwritten collector's and artist's name, as well as round Christie's label

In a wooded landscape, one or two dogs each with different behavior: looking at a pair of snipes between red and blue flowers; scaring up two ducks flying away quickly; two dogs sniffing at shot prey, as well as two dogs looking at a shot pheasant, next to which the hunting rifle is leaning against a tree and a hunting bag is lying. Painting in the artist's typical manner, the hounds each particularly finely rendered and emphasized.
Annotation:
The works formerly attributed to Oudry. The artist was particularly noted for his perfect depiction and reproduction of the physiognomies of hunted wild animals. His clients included the King of France and the French aristocracy as well as rulers and aristocrats from all over Europe. (1401108) (18)
