In an explosion of light, these myriads of yellow dots fill almost the entire composition.
The painter chose to treat the flowers with an infinite accumulation of small, uniform yellow dots arranged side by side in a relief-like process. The flower stands in a brown vase.
The choice of blue as a background color, complementary to yellow, underlines the power of this bouquet. The composition is simple, effective and balanced and reveals its full luminosity through some white dots that give the whole a glittering effect like reflections of light, while others, like the vase, are brown and lend depth to the whole. The mimosa fascinated Kisling and became a recurring motif in his entire oeuvre. By the time of his death, the artist had painted several dozen bouquets of mimosas.the artist was a French painter of Polish-Jewish origin. He initially studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow before moving to Paris, where he lived in the Montmartre district from 1910. He was friends with many of his contemporaries, including his neighbor Amedeo Modigliani, who painted him. After the occupation of France during the Second World War, he fled to the USA.(1401558) (13)
