LANDSCAPE WITH OLIVE TREES Oil on canvas. 34 x 105 cm. Signed and dated lower right. In cream-colored frame. Further view over an olive grove on a late afternoon with long shadows and warm highlights competing with the local colors of the objects. The artist's pointillist landscapes and Parisian cityscapes achieved success and were shown in exhibitions at the Société des Artistes Indépendants, the Société nationale des beaux-arts, the Salon d'Automne and the Salon d'hiver. The artist grew up in the Marais district of Paris. As an autodidact, he matured into a celebrated post-impressionist painter. His pointillist landscapes achieved success and were shown in numerous French exhibitions.
