Fritz Winter was one of the pioneers of abstraction. He studied at the Bauhaus, was a founding member of the artists' group ZEN 49 and was one of the protagonists of artistic screen printing in Germany. From his early Bauhaus works, he developed his own formal language, which gave him a special position alongside the informal.
