WINTER LANDSCAPE WITH FIGURES

Under a cloudy sky, a peasant family with a leading dog on a snow-covered path, in front of a stone wall with gate and small chapel of a church complex, within which the church can be seen behind trees. Atmospheric depiction that conveys the cold of a winter's day. A few small retouches.
Annotation:
The artist was a Dutch landscape painter and etcher who took up permanent residence in the Austro-Hungarian Empire from 1842. In 1846 King William II of the Netherlands awarded him the Order of the Oak Crown. Haanen also exhibited at the Paris World Exhibition in 1855. From 1865 he was a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus.
