The artist studied at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam and lives and works in the south of France. Similar to the works of her husband, the artist Rob Jurrissen, she creates exciting contrasts that produce luminous images. Penraat plays with pictorial quotations and imitations of the painting and working methods of famous classical modernist artists. Penraat works in expressive colors, allowing vases and leaves to emerge as fine silhouettes or strongly outlining the respective subject matter in order to make the adjacent colors appear even more intense.
