PORTRAIT OF A SHEPHERD HOLDING A FLUTE Oil on wood. Parquetry. 86 x 70 cm. In decorative frame. Against a dark green background, lightening to the right, a half-length portrait of a young man facing left, wearing simple clothing, a kind of beret on his head, in which a small white flower is stuck. A shepherd's crook leans over his right shoulder and he also holds a flute in his left hand; his cheeks are slightly flushed and his brown eyes look out of the picture. The light falls on him from an unknown source from the top left, illuminating his face and his exposed left shoulder. Sensitive depiction in restrained colors.
