Italienische Schule des 17. Jahrhunderts LANDSCAPE WITH RUINS CAPRICCIO AND FIGURES Oil on canvas. 127 x 150 cm. Through a high, slightly grass-covered archway with Corinthian columns, the viewer looks out onto the sunlit ruins of a fantastic semi-circular palace complex with a gallery, on which there are also a few sculptures. To the left, a wide staircase leads up to nowhere. In the foreground is a woman sitting on stone fragments, to her right a young man lying in the shade and looking at the complex from behind. On the right edge, three fluted columns connected by an architrave as a repoussoir and a magnificent stone vase on a pedestal. Imaginative depiction under a high light blue sky with white cloud formations, partly reminiscent of works by Giovanni Ghisolfi (1623/32-1683). (14008531) (18)
