SAINT MAGDALENE CONTEMPLATING THE CROSS Oil on wood. 80 x 60 cm. The painting created in the highest degree of fine painting, with delicate sfumato on the contours of the incarnate figure. The young penitent bends over the corpus of Christ on the cross, which she holds in her hands. Her once relaxed lifestyle is characterized here, as is customary in iconography, by her disordered long hair, which falls in curls over her shoulders and chest. At the bottom left is a skull as her attribute, albeit heavily darkened so as not to affect the aesthetic effect of the painting, with the open book next to it. (14008950) (11)
