FEMALE NUDE WITH SHOULDERED BASKET OF FLOWERS Oil on canvas. 94 x 73 cm. Signed upper right. Portrait of a beauty painted with virtuosity in the artist's typical style. The girl with bare shoulders and curly dark hair gazes at the viewer with wide eyes. She is holding a basket filled with colorful flowers on her left shoulder. Here, the artist takes up French Rococo painting and translates it into his typical painting style of the early 20th century. Leopold Schmutzler studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 1880 and painting in Munich from the fall of 1882. He was a sought-after portraitist and painted members of the Bavarian royal family.(1401024) (19)
