FISHERMAN AT LAKE CHIEMSEE

On the calm waters of the Chiemsee, three fishermen and a girl are busy pulling fishing nets out of the water. The shore in the distance is bathed in diffuse light by rising clouds. Fine and bright light mood with iridescent colors on the water surface.
The painting is recorded in the catalog raisonné of Joseph Wopfner under the number 723 and is dated to the period 1920-1927.
The artist was an Austrian landscape painter and representative of the Munich School. As he often used motifs from the Chiemgau region for his paintings, he is also known as the Chiemsee painter.
