Large sculpture carved in Carrara marble depicting Ares, the Greek god of war. Standing in contraposto with pearl-studded shield, sword hilt and Spartan helmet. On a coffered stepped marble base and plinth with meander band. Modeled on the sculpture from the Villa Hadriana in Tivoli. (1401364) (13)
