Alexandre ZEITLIN (1872-1944). "Baby". Yorkshire au naturel in gilt bronze, eyes in sulfide. He is lying on his cushion with his initials "BB" on top of his owner Walter Palmer's book "Poultry managment on a farm, London 1901". Signed A Zeitlin. signed by the founders Thibaut frère in Paris and L. Gasne St Paris. 30 x 45 x 40 cm. This bronze was specially commissioned by the writer Walter Palmer from Alexandre Zeitlin, of his dog "Bébé". Alexandre Zeitlin was a Jewish sculptor born in Russia in 1872. He studied with Falguières in Paris, then lived in London and the United States, where he died in 1944. Reference: Twentieth Autumn Exhibition catalog (Manchester Art Gallery 1902) p. 43, no. 245. For this exhibition, Mrs. Walter Palmer loaned the bronze of "Baby".
