PIERRE-PHILIPPE THOMIRE (1751-1843)
PAIR OF LARGE ORMOLU AND BRONZE TORCHÈRES WITH DARK GREEN PATINA, ON BRONZE AND GRIOTTE MARBLE BASE
EMPIRE PERIOD
Antique-style women holding a vast cornucopia with fruit, from which a thyrse emerges, surrounded by three arms of light.
The arms of light are richly decorated with rooster heads and vine tendrils.
The young women carrying the lights stand in slight contrapposto, dressed in a slightly different traditional chiton.
The square base supports a short column.
H. Height : 97 cm
Base: 15.5 x 15.6 cm
Each foot is engraved with the name "THOMIRE A PARIS".
A very fine model, in a perfect state of preservation, with however some slight wear to the gilding of the bases due to repeated cleaning.
