Pair of still lifes with baskets of fruit and birds 54 x 70 cm Francesco Malagoli was a follower of the eighteenth-century tradition of Felice Rubbiani; ancient sources indicate that he practiced painting as a self-taught artist. The painter was active mainly as a decorator, but he was equally known for his pleasing still lifes, less sumptuous than those of Rubbiani with whom ours has often been confused along with the later Bernardino Malagoli . In Salvator Rosa three-tier carving frames, in ebonized wood with gilt carvings, from the second half of the 17th century.
