TURKEY, mid-19th century
Ottoman SABRE known as a Shamshir, two-plate horn handle, brass mounting, two straight quillons guard richly decorated in relief with acanthus and stylized plants
stylized plants, flat-backed curved blade decorated on each side with fillets and a flower in relief, chagrin-covered scabbard with metal stitching, four metal fittings and two suspension rings.
Restoration (welding) at the bottom of the blade.
Provenance: descendants of General Changarnier (1793-1877).
