A pair of wall plates depicting the Prince and Princess of Wales, probably created soon after the 1863 wedding of Prince Albert Edward (future King Edward VII of the United Kingdom) and Princess Alexandra of Denmark (future Queen Consort of the United Kingdom). The plaques are each circular plates of bronze in wooden frames with the heads of Prince Albert Edward and Princess Alexandra in high relief at the center, set above the text 'Prince of Wales' and 'Princess of Wales' respectively.
Britain, CA. 1863.
Dimensions: Each plate D: 7 7/8 in., (20 cm.)
Each frame has a large crack. Some wear to surface throughout. Bronze nicely patinated. Some surface staining in places.
