Johann Baptist Homann, 1663-1724. A rare hand-colored map of "Bavaria Circulus et Electorat in suasquaque Dittiones tam cum Adiaacentibus. Quam Insertis Regionibus accuratisime divifus per Io: Baptistam Homannum Norimberge".
This hand-colored map of Bavaria in Southern Germany and portions of Austria and Switzerland was created by Johann Baptist Homann and published in Nuremberg, Germany in 1716. It includes Munich, Salzburg, Passau, Bamberg, Nuremberg, Augsburg and Innsbruck. The map details cities, forts, mountains, forests, and lakes, as well as districts. The beautiful elaborate cartouche in the upper right depicts people, cherubs, lions, weapons, an armorial royal crest, and decorative scrollwork.
Dimensions: 23 5/8 x 20 in., (60 x 51 cm.)
Original map has been cut in half and then put together. The borders are back on white paper. Minor foxing on edges. Map appears to be strong.
