Malwa School of Painting is centered largely in Malwa and Bundelkhand in Central India. The school was conservative and little development is seen from the earliest examples such as Rasakapriya and Bhagwat Purana series. Malwa paintings show a fondness for rigorously flat composition, black and brown backgrounds, figures shown against a solid color patch and architecture painted in lively colors. The school’s most appealing features are a primitive charm and simple childlike vision.
Dimensions: 9 x 11 in., (23 x 28 cm.)
The miniature is preserved well overall.
