Norman Kent (American, 1903 - 1972), pencil on paper illustration and a cover design for the DESIGN AND PAPER series of promotional booklets. Dated, 4/11/76, inscribed in pencil: "Drawn by my husband, Norman, Diana Kent" on the left margin, sealed on the right margin.
Note: Norman Kent is known for Landscape, illustrator, and graphics. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1925. He was awarded a full scholarship to the Art Students League in New York where he finished his studies under Leftwich Dodge and the noted woodcut artist Alan Lewis. Kent began his career as a Buffalo-based illustrator before teaching at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York. He served as the editor of American Artist magazine for over 25 years. His work has been collected by many museums and libraries, and a nearly complete collection of his woodcuts and linocuts is held by the Special Collections Department of the Lauinger Library at Georgetown University. Kent died at Rochester, New York.
