Jean Albert Pougny, or Ivan Albertovich Puni, (Russian/French, 1894-1956) oil on canvas painting 'L'Autobus à impériale.' Signed "Pougny" lower right. Provenance: Through the collection of Frederick Leopold William Richardson (American, b. 1876), grandson of architect Henry Hobson Richardson (1838-1886).
Note: Jean Albert Pougny was a Russian-French artist who radically changed his artistic style several times from avant-garde, cubism, futurism and suprematism to lyrical primitivism in line with the direction in which also worked Pierre Bonnard and Edouard Vuillard.
