Boris Sveshnikov (1927-1998), an oil on canvas painting. Monogrammed lower right. Signed "B. Sveshnikov" and titled "A Closing Eye" in Cyrillic, dated 1987 on the verso. Housed in a wooden frame.
Boris Petrovich Sveshnikov (1927-1998) was a Russian painter, graphic artist, and book illustrator. He is known for his series of labor camp drawings and illustrations made for the State Literary Publishing House. One of the most authoritative representatives of the unofficial art from 1950s to 1980s.
