SILVER MUSTARD POT, ATTRIBUTED TO MASTER SILVERSMITH JEAN-BAPTISTE HARRAULT (1715-1773) OR HIS SON JEAN THOMAS (1741-1796), AVIGNON, CIRCA 1765
of baluster form, decorated with torsoed ribs on the lid, standing on a segmented pedestal, the rim molded with ribboned fillets; the base of the body chased with waves; the body partially foliated, the upper part chased with waves on an amati ground; the lid surmounted by a foliated scroll; the pouring spout, the graven coat of arms surmounted by a marquis's crown; the scrolled handle.
Under the base, city hallmark and goldsmith's hallmark (twice).
