SUISSE, fin du XVIIIème siècle Toothpick box in gold (750), rectangular with cut edges, decorated on all sides with translucent midnight-blue enamels in reserves on grooved backgrounds adorned with columns of striated diamonds, opaque light-blue fillets, four pilasters (in profile) adorned with a pansy and a quartefeuille on an opaque black background and chased with friezes of leaves or zig-zags. Hinged lid with rim highlighted by a line of white half-pearls in grain setting. Worn Swiss hallmarks on the reverse of the lid: titling [18K] and goldsmith's mark: F.G. Repoinçonnée en FRANCE sur la feuillure du titrage [coq de 3ème titre] et de la petite Garantie [tête de coq] des départements pour 1798-1809, et de la petite Recense [oeil] pour 1809-1819 et de la petite Recense [coquemar - 8 pour le département de l'Ariège] pour 1819-1838. Gross weight: 53.4 g. - 16 x 72 x 30 mm. A half-pearl is missing; the enamels are missing, and the midnight-blue enamel is badly damaged.
