Rectangular composite snuffbox with rounded corners.
The body of the box in (750) yellow and rose gold with chased decoration, on the sides and bottom, of reserves with wavy bands in frieze frames of foliage and flowers or leaves or fillets; the uprights adorned with quatrefoils.
First quarter of the 19th century.
Lid, hinged, enriched with a rectangular enameled porcelain plate featuring two women holding cages, a bird hesitating to enter one of them, in a landscape, with a chased relief frame of three-tone gold (750) floral scrolls on a grained background.
Pink gold (750) interior.
Mid-19th century.
No apparent hallmark.
Gross weight: 127.7 g. - 20 x 90 x 60 mm.
Scratches to the porcelain plate; a few bumps, notably to the rabbet; partially split frame; a few small reinforcing welds, notably at the edges of the lid and frame.
