Attributed to Johann Elias RIDINGER (1698 - 1767) A white stag drinking Oil on beech panel, one board, not parqueted 37.5 x 28 cm Old restorations Long associated with purity, the white stag has become even more so in Christian tradition. In Western iconography, the white stag is the symbol of a mystical presence, and as such should not be seen as a simple game animal, but as a divine or Christ-like manifestation.
