Autograph on the front side of the photograph: 'Valichke Kataevoy s nezhnoi lyubovyu / M. Zoshchenko'. [“To Valichka Kataeva with tender love / M. Zoshchenko”.]
The dedicatory inscription is likely addressed to the writer and friend of Mikhail Zoshchenko, Valentin Kataev (1897-1986). Despite the conflicting literary-political events that later overshadowed their relationship, the writers maintained a friendly connection.
Mikhail Mikhailovich Zoshchenko (1894-1958) was a Soviet writer, playwright, screenwriter, and translator. An outstanding satirist, he was one of the most prominent representatives of Soviet literature of the 1920s and 1930s.
