[Binding with arms]. [Manuscript]. [LONGUERUE (Louis Dufour de) (after)]. Extract from the Introduction to the History of France by Mr. l'abbé de Longue Rüe. 18th c. In-4, contemporary blond calf, 5-ribbed spine, garnet-red morocco title-piece, small-iron ornamented caissons, boards framed with triple gilt fillet, gilt coat of arms in center, double gilt fillet on edges, red edges (small stains on boards, jaws partly split, corners dull, some f. a little browned). Neat manuscript, in rapid but very legible handwriting, generally 17 lines per page, written in ink on laid paper, r° and v°. Foliated from 1 to 204 (including the title), it consists of two parts: extracts from Louis Dufour de Longuerue's work, Introduction à l'histoire de France (fol. 1 recto to 143 verso), then f. 144 and 145 are blank; then "Remarques tirées de l'histoire de France", which occupy f. 146 to 201 recto (the last two are blank). Provenance: Samuel Bernard (1651-1739), a businessman and banker who was one of the wealthiest men in Europe in his time, ennobled in 1720, then State Councillor (arms on binding, OHR 1042 fer 1).
