[Manuscript]. [Berry]. [Mazières (les)]. BOOK OF ACCOUNTS for the Mazières estate (present-day commune of Saulzais-le-Potier, Cher) and its outbuildings. [1779 - circa 1815]. Fort in-folio, contemporary binding covered with an antiphonal leaflet on vellum, traces of laces (split at upper jaw, gap in cover at tail of spine, extensive but light wetness).
Important register comprising 493 numbered pages. It is divided into several parts devoted to the estate itself, and the lands that depend on it, named "Les Perets" and "Beaupetit" for the two main ones. Between each part is a large number of unused pages.
The estate belonged to the Dupeyroux family, one of whose members, François, was Commander of the Order of Malta in 1791.
This register is distinguished by a 5-page section headed "Mes projets pour les améliorations et les embellissements de la terre et du château des Mazières, le 30 novembre 1778" ("My plans for the improvements and embellishments of the land and château of Mazières, November 30, 1778"). The first page contains a detailed, captioned plan of the château; the following 4 pages list the work to be carried out, most of which is dated from 1779 to 1793.
Attached are a dozen loose manuscript documents relating to land management, c. 1779-1815.
