[Binding with arms]. [Sixteenth century book]. VALERE MAXIME. Dictorum factorumq[ue] memorabilium exempla. Parisiis, apud H. de Marnef, 1588. In-24, 516 p., [14] f., contemporary fawn calf, smooth spine decorated and muted, large gilt coat of arms on a fleur-de-lys semé separated by roulettes, gilt fillet at the edges, gilt edges (minor rubbing and minor defects, repair to a corner and tail of a spine; rare angular or marginal wetness). Bound with the arms of Timoléon d'Espinay (1580-1644), lieutenant-general and commander of the City of Paris (Guigard II, 206). Provenance: J. P.
