GODONNESCHE (Nicolas); FLEURIMONT (G.-R.). Medals from the reign of Louis XV. [Paris, s.n., c. 1745]. In-folio, late eighteenth-century red morocco, 5-ribbed spine, green morocco title-piece, small-ink ornamented caissons, gilt roulette framing the covers, another on the spines and chasses, gilt edges (some rubbing, slight soiling in the margins of some plates and on the last).
Entirely copper-engraved work comprising a frontispiece by Cars after F. Le Moyne (here cut at the margin and reassembled), an unsigned engraved title, a dedication leaf to the king, and 65 plates (num. from 1 to 63, the last 2 without no.), each offering a medal accompanied by its explanation, in an ornamental frame.
The dedication is signed G. R. Fleurimont, but this collection is attributed, at least in part, to Nicolas Godonnesche, engraver and keeper of medals in the King's cabinet until 1732.
