Harth, Philipp (Mainz 1885 - 1986 Bayrischzell), Sitting Jaguar, bronze 1932, Philipp Harth trained as a sculptor in Mainz a. Karlsruhe from 1901-03, then lived in Munich, Worpswede a. Mainz from 1908/09, where he was a teacher at the Kunstgewerbeschule, in 1910 he moved to Berlin, trained as an architect under Peter Behrens a. Hermann Muthesius, after 1930 he studied in Rome, Paris, Hamburg, Cologne, from 1934 he was a member of the Berlin Secession, his friends included Werner Gilles a. George Grosz. After 1930, he studied in Rome, Paris, Hamburg and Cologne and became a member of the Berlin Secession in 1934. His friends included Werner Gilles, George Grosz, Emil van Hauth, Alexej Jawlensky, Emil Nolde, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff as well as Georg Kolbe, Kurt Lehmann, Gustav Seitz and Mies van der Rohe, he was a member of the Deutscher Künstlerbund, his works can be found in many museums, Sitzender Jaguar is in the Mainz Landesmuseum, Moderne, Saal 10 (Inventar-Nr. 75/163), h 20.5 cm, l 21 cm, stamped H in a circle under the front paw and cast Barth Rinteln (Richart Barth foundry, Rinteln), minimal partial patina wear. 4347-021
