"ALTAR BOOK OF PHILIP III DUKE OF BURGUNDY".- The original of which is property of the Austrian National Library. M.: Versol Bibliophile Club, 2016. 35 cm., full leather on dry embossed board. Content in case ed. along with notarial certificate number. of tir. limited to 350, and vol. of studies. As a diptych, the book occupies the lower body and two niches in the upper one with two beautiful paintings: the Trinity, on the left, and the Coronation of the Virgin on the right. Philip III the Good, Duke of Burgundy (1419-1467) was one of the greatest bibliophiles of the 15th century. The text, written in Latin and French, with black and red ink, are prayers to the Virgin (it also contains "Psalms of Saint Bernard" and the "New words" of Aubert of Cologne) and is illustrated with decorations on borders, shields, large capitulars and capital letters, and splendid full-page miniatures, with abundant gold on all its pages.
