Catherine II of Russia - Parchment diploma granted by Catherine II of Russia Imperial Diploma of hereditary nobility, bestowed on the Zimmerman family and its descendants by Tsarina Catherine II, by granting the coat of arms and seal. Parchment document consisting of 5 sheets with a total of 10 pages, 420 x 295 mm. The text is framed in phytomorphic frame, intersected by cameos: the one in the top center bears the initials of the tsarina, EA (Ekaterina Alekseevna), all others, however, images of battles (probably referring to battles in which the Zimmerman brothers, who served in the Russian army under Catherine II, had distinguished themselves), at the first paper stands out the portrait of Catherine within oval surmounting St. George and the dragon, all above the black two-headed eagle symbol of Russia, at the recto of the fourth paper the heraldic coat of arms granted to the Zimmerman family, signed at the last paper by Catherine II (Ekaterina) and signed by the vice chancellor; also contains a description of the coat of arms: a shield carved in six parts, three gilt and three azure, crowned with a helmet with a leopard's head above it from which emerge three ostrich feathers. Sheets of green silk protecting each individual page, binding covered with silk threads, much ruined, large wax seal 120 mm in diameter perfectly preserved within metal case. All collected in fine green leather slipcase.
