Dante Alighieri Alighieri, Dante - The vision poem of Dante Alighieri diuiso in Inferno, Purgatorio, & Paradiso Vicenza : ad instantia di Francesco Leni libraro in Padoua, 1613. 16°. On title page mark of the bicauded and crowned Siren, title page in typographical frame, small restoration to inner margin of title page with slight loss of frame, SPECTACULAR BINDING IN PAINTED FLOSCIA PERGAMEN with depictions of Virgil on upper plate, Dante on spine, and Beatrice on lower plate, within frames and with various decorations. Exemplar by Giuseppe Martini, as per the usual handwritten note in pencil, of which a leaflet is preserved which reads "The pen drawings adorning the binding are evidently executed in the style of the Pre-Raphaelite school, and may perhaps be the work of Dante Gabriel Rossetti." On the I guard leaf ex libris nobiliare of Lord George John Warren Vernon at the flyleaf, with the motto "Vernon semper viret."
