Set of three pieces of tea. Modern in design concept with bold lines, this is the work of ceramicist and glass artist Dorothy Hafner. Born in Woodbridge, Connecticut, Hafner graduated from Skidmore College in 1974, where she also pursued graduate studies. She then worked as production director of the International Craft Film Festival, and beginning in 1976 she was director of the international department of the Museum of Contemporary Craft in New York. For the next two years she was artist-in-residence at Artpark in Lewiston, New York. In 1979 she founded Art in Dining in New York, under whose banner she designed porcelain tableware for such firms as Neiman Marcus and Tiffany & Co. and from 1982 her work was also distributed by Rosenthal. His work has received numerous honors and awards Hafner began his career as a ceramist, but in 1997 he devoted himself exclusively to glass Two of his works are part of the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
