Mosaic table by BERTHOLD MÜLLER (1893-1979). Ceramic mosaics. Wooden legs and brass details. Measurements: 50 x 129 x 55 cm. Coffee table raised on four bambi legs. The top is distinguished by the meticulous mosaic that combines curved surfaces in gold, white and brownish tones. Berthold Müller-Oerlinghausen was a German sculptor who specialized in mosaics. In the 1960s and 1970s, Müller worked as a freelance designer and produced a series of furniture designs that were characterized by simplicity, clean lines and functionality. Müller's work was widely recognized during his lifetime, and he received several awards for his designs, including the prestigious German Design Award. Today, his furniture designs are highly sought after by collectors and are part of the collections of many important museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Vitra Design Museum in Germany.
